Recharge Your Batteries

July 29, 2009

How many power chargers do you own? If you are like many of us today, you have several. We have one for the cell phone, well actually there are two for the cell phone -- one to plug into the electrical outlet and one to plug into the car. Then there is the charger for the Bluetooth ear piece. What about for your computer or iPod or Blackberry or GPS system? And when it comes time to travel or be away from the office for an extended period of time, making sure that you have your chargers is at the top of your list. Not being able to use all of this technology would stress you out more than you already are.

What about your charger? How do you recharge your batteries? Or better yet, when was the last time that you took the time to recharge your batteries? Isn't it ironic that we are so vigilant about all of the power supplies for our technology that we often neglect the most important factor -- us, the user of the technology. We all know that if you don't have the proper power for your equipment it will not work well and the same holds true for us. Whether it is physical, mental, or emotional energy, the fact is we need to recharge.

Think about what brings you pleasure. Finish this sentence, "If I had more time I would..."? (It's probably not "work more"!). Chances are how ever you finish that sentence, it's what energizes you and recharges your battery. Go ahead, plug into more sleep, more family time, more outdoor time, more time to read, or more time to pursue your favorite hobby. You get the idea. When you return to work you'll discover that you work better just like your cell phone does when it's been recharged!

Permanently Delete Files

You know how when you delete an email in Outlook or a document file, it doesn't actually delete? It just goes into the trash folder. If you don't want to clog up the trash with files that you really want to disappear, you can permanently delete a file or email easily. To do this, instead of just clicking the Delete button:

  • Highlight the file or email and hold down the Shift Key while you click Delete.
  • A window will prompt you with a message asking if you are sure you want to permanently delete the selected item, Select Yes.
