New Features in The Paper Tiger Version 3.0!

Thank you for your interest in the new version 3.0 of Kiplinger’s Taming The Paper Tiger software! The Paper Tiger software upgrade is for current 1.x or 2.x users only.

The new version 3.0 of The Paper Tiger is powerful software combined with a proven system for filing and retrieving paper (also works great for CDs, diskettes, videos, really anything). The software allows you to find information in your office or home FAST! Paper Tiger version 3.0 contains over 20 new features, enhancements, reports and fixes.

New features include:

“Live Update” – because you have purchased the 3.0 upgrade you will automatically be notified and then prompted to download/install all additional upgrades (version 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, etc. up to but not including 4.0) as they become available at no additional charge. This keeps your software "state-of-the-art" with new features as they become available and all bug fixes/patches are immediately on your system thus avoiding any future problems before they occur. If you rely on The Paper Tiger software, staying current is very smart indeed!

Much greater control of network users – now with version 3.0 most network administrator functions DO NOT require exclusive access, new screen displays all "logged on" users, administrator can easily send message to everyone to "log off" - also ability to force "log off" with no data integrity issues, much greater control of permissions at the individual user level has been added to the system giving greater security to the system.

Many reporting enhancements – descriptions can now be added to reports, customized reports can now be saved ("memorized") by the user and later recalled, word-wrap is now incorporated allowing font changes without causing column size issues, much greater control of alignment for labels - left, right, up, down controls, easier margin adjustments, and other reporting improvements.

Sync & view reports on Palm/Windows PDAs - now for the first time you can view your favorite Paper Tiger reports on your personal digital assistant (PDA)! You can send your reports to your PDA so that using The Paper Tiger to find your information in now easier than ever! The next time you sync your Palm/Windows device, your Paper Tiger reports will appear on your PDA in a very easy to read PDA format.

Search the Internet within Paper Tiger – many people have asked for a way to search not only their paper files but for an easy way to look to the Internet for information on an entered keyword. Now from within Paper Tiger, you can search the Internet using your favorite search engine (Google, Yahoo!, MSN, AskJeeves, etc.) Version 3.0 of The Paper Tiger ships with most major search engines already loaded and others will be added in future updates.

More streamlined interface – as Paper Tiger databases have become larger, customers have asked for easier more streamlined ways to see the location tabs and navigate among the tabs. These new features have been added.

Reminders pop-up – reminders will now pop-up and alert you to upcoming events. This tool is now much more difficult to ignore - should you decide to use its more alarming features!

“Memo” field – users have asked for a way to put notes attached to any item that they wish. This would allow users to put special information about a file that does not pertain to actual keywords associated with a file. This is now available in a very user friendly way within version 3.0. This feature is designed for those that would like to add additional information about a file and it particularly helpful when multiple people will be looking at the file.

Location memory – now as you move from one location to another and back again, The Paper Tiger will remember where you were and not reset to the top of the page each time. You can over-ride this feature if you wish. However, when doing a daily editing many times this can save quite a bit of time getting back to your place in a location quickly.

“Find First” Feature – now with the new version 3.0 as you enter new items into the database, The Paper Tiger will actually let you know if you already have a file like the one you are entering. This is a great new feature and will not only save you time but virtually eliminate duplication in your files keeping your information concise and together in one place. A big time saver and can greatly reduce any maintenance you might have to do later by combining duplicate files!

On-line documentation/help – now more than ever, help is just a click away. Help has been improved and can be updated automatically as new updates become available.

Additional Preferences - as thousands of users have made suggestions and requests, preferences have been enhanced to make using Paper Tiger more streamlined & personalized.
